Keds for Kate Spade

Yesterday I took a break from work to do a little shopping and fell in love with these adorable shoes from Kate Spade.  The brand has partnered up with Keds to make a line of patterned and stylish sneakers.  I really liked some of the patterns from last year as well with squiggles and polka dots, but decided to go for it when I saw this pair.  They came with an extra pair of shoe laces in yellow, but I think I like the off white ones best.

Gathered Waist Dress

The weather here has been extremely humid and muggy.  The temperatures haven’t been all that high, but I hate that muggy feeling when the humidity is in the 90% range.  I decided to wear something on the cooler side to try to stay comfortable at work, and picked this dress and jewel toned cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft.  At first I was going to wear a pair of black sandals but decided to play off of the blue in the cardigan and wear these blue heels instead.  I felt very polished and professional.

Week of Polka Dots Comes to an End

I was almost able to finish out my week of polka dots, but ran out of viable options after Thursday.  This was the new red with white polka dot dress I wore on Thursday.  Red with white polka dots, being my second favorite pattern right after navy with white.

On Friday I wore one of the tops I kept from my last Tog + Porter box paired with an older dusty rose jacket and some white capri jeans.

Heart shaped polka dots?

I feel like this still counts for my week of polka dots, but they are heart shaped so it’s a stretch.  I got tired of my usual pose and decided to try out the “fashion magazine model” pose.  I don’t know why you see so many models posing this way, because it’s incredibly awkward and not something you’d ever do in your day to day life, and yet if you want to make clothes look high fashion, simply turn our your elbows!

The dress is from Old Navy from a few years back, and so is the cardigan.  I love the color combination of black and white plus green.  The dress is super lightweight and was good for the 80 degree weather we had today.

Polka Dots Part 2

I didn’t even realize it when I picked this dress out yesterday morning, but it also has polka dots.  Maybe I’ll try for a week of polka dots?  I bought this dress last year from Shabby Apple and love the adorable Peter Pan collar and swingy skirt.  (See the second “action” photo.)  The lovely mint color is set off by the white polka dots and I felt a bit like a walking confection.  The fitted upper half combined with the swingy skirt work perfect for a pear shape and helped to balance me out.  I love this dress.
