I decided to go for it and get a Golden Tote this month, mostly because they had a few really adorable dresses I wanted. Here’s what I got.

I really like this on. It’s flattering and soft and I can see myself wearing it a lot this summer.

This is shorter than I’d like, but I can get away with it on the weekends. Love the color and will pair it with lace up sandals.

Not really flattering and a style that I dislike, but I might wear it once just to give it a chance. It’s very on trend right now. Just not good for my body type.

I do like this dress, but it’s one of those things I feel like I’ll be fussing a lot with. Because of the elastic waist and gathering I had to keep pulling it down when I moved otherwise it gathered very unflatteringly at the top.

Overall

Overall, would I do it again soon? Probably not, but I did get a few dresses that I like. Unfortunately the two tops were awful and unflattering, and had this been stitch fix everything but the green maxi dress would have gone back.

The August Golden Tote was a bit of a disappointment again. I really need to rethink these subscription services…

Chosen Item #1 – Frequent Flier Dress

This isn’t my favorite item. The dress is a bit shorter than I’d like, but the pattern does remind me of “Saved by the Bell” which is a positive in my book.

Chosen Item #2 – Paisley Perfection Maxi Skirt

I wore this to work this week and it’s surprisingly long! This is not usually a problem for my 5’6″ frame, I bet this is dragging for most women.

Surprise Item – Naked Zebra Keyhole Tank

I love the color of this, I’ll just need to find the right outfit for it.

Surprise Item #2 – Chris & Carol Floral Maxi Skirt

The pattern reminds me of something I would have worn in the 90’s. Not in love with this item, but it might go cute with a chunky burgundy sweater in the fall.

Surprise Item #3 – Skies are Blue Marigold Print Dress

Shapeless and short, not for me. Maybe for a model with stick legs, but not for me.

Surprise Item #4 – Renee C Floral Top

I could see myself wearing this with shorts and I like the pattern so this was okay.

Overall

I will probably only end up wearing 2-3 of these items so it doesn’t really seem worth the $149 for the tote this month. I might skip this next month.

My July 2015 Golden Tote arrived this weekend and there were some good surprises and some just “enh”.

Here are the boutique items I got this time.

All Tied Up Printed Sandals – $20

They recommended going up a half size so I went with 8.5 and they seem to fit well. I wore them this weekend with black shorts and a red top.

Mardi Gras Bracelet Set – $14

Haven’t worn these yet, but they are cute in person.

Silver Metal Layered Necklace – $15

And here are the tote items.

Chosen Item 1 – Embellished Eyelet Tank

I normally don’t wear racerback tops like this but with the heat I decided to give it a try. It’s a nice soft fabric and I can’t wait to wear it with shorts (the proportions don’t suit me with capris).

Chosen Item 2 – Draped Crossover Blouse

Surprise Item – Bo Bel Pocket Tee with Crochet Trim (Green)

I wore this to work paired with white jeans and a blazer from an older Golden Tote.

Surprise Item – Skies are Blue Floral Lace Detail Kimono

Not thrilled with another kimono but it’s a nice color.

Surprise Item – Le Lis Side Bow Dress

Surprise Item – Miss Love Black Tank with Sheer Panel at Hem

Very basic piece but rather boring.

Overall Impressions

The July Golden Tote came with some pretty dark and boring surprise items, especially since I had seen a spoiler email with some of the cute patterned tops they were giving away. I had hoped to see the polka dot top or the ikat print tee but only got dark boring stuff. Maybe next month will be better.

I was sick when my May Golden Tote arrived and didn’t bother to take pics of me wearing the items, but I did take photos of what I got.

May Golden Tote

Pick Item #1 – Golden Tote Sweatshirt in Blue

It looked a bit small out of the box, but when I tried it on it fit well in the size small that I got.

Pick Item #2 – In the Navy Maxi Dress

This is a really soft and cute maxi dress. I accessorized it with a trio of elephants necklace I had and these flat sandals and white linen jacket.

Add on Item – Bring on Spring Sweatshirt in white

I had ordered this as part of my April tote but they sent me the blue one instead. It is the softest most cozy shirt I’ve ever worn so I got it as an add on with this tote so I can have it in two colors.

Surprise Item #1 – Tea & Rose Solid Midi skirt – Charcoal

I haven’t worn this yet and it’s just okay.

Surprise Item #2 – Miss Love Lightweight Floral Jacket

I actually did wear this yesterday with a pair of khaki bow shorts I got from Anthropologie and a plain white tee. I forgot to take a pic, but it was a cute look.

Surprise Item #3 – Le Lis Owl Printed Top – peach

Haven’t worn this yet either but I think it would look cute with black shorts. Love the print!

Surprise Item #4 – Very J Printed Elastic Waist Dress – black

This is much shorter than I’m normally comfortable with but I wore it on the weekend when it was hot. For work I might pair it with some cropped leggings.

Jewelry picks

I love the elephant bracelet and the delicate necklace. I’ve worn both several times already.

This bracelet came free with the order but I really don’t care for it and it’s rather “pokey”.

June Stitch Fix

For June there was only one item I was excited about so I got the one item tote for $49 and was rather disappointed.

Pick Item – Fun & Fresh Tank in floral multi

I do like the tank. The print is vibrant and I love the colors. But as for the surprise item…

Surprise Item – Potters Pot Pleated Pants

Culottes. Just… no. I can’t describe how bad these looked on me so they are going immediately to charity.

Overall, I really loved my May Golden Tote but probably should have skipped the June one. For $58.95 (includes tax and shipping) it was not worth it for one sleeveless top. I think the only tote that really provides value is the $149 tote where you get lots of surprise items.

April Golden Tote Review

My Golden Tote for April arrived on May 1st. (They keep slipping dates with the launches which is starting to put them into the next month.) This month I was extremely excited for the black spring chic maxi dress but when I tried to get a tote on the launch day, the site (as usual) had tons of problems and kept timing out and leaving things out of the cart and several hours later when I was finally able to get it working they had sold out of all sizes of the black maxi. They restocked a week later but they only had small left by the time I got to the site so I decided I’d try to make it work.

What I ordered clearly stated on my receipt:

What I got:

I was not very happy that they sent me the wrong item, but when I went to the site they were all sold out of the white one in my size.

The Tote

Spring Chic Maxi Dress – size small

Because I ended up ordering the small, the gathered elastic waist was a bit tight and uncomfortable. I have since made a few alterations on the dress and let out the elastic at the front sides so it’s much more comfortable now. After I put this dress on I feel like it makes me look like I have man arms so I’m not as happy with it as I expected.

Bring on Spring Sweatshirt – Blue NOT white as ordered

I have to say, this is the softest thing I’ve ever worn. I immediately wore it the day I tried it on and am wearing it this morning as I type up my review. SO soft and cozy. I wish it was the white color, but I’m happy nevertheless. I ended up ordering this in a small since on the larger model it looked really over-sized in a medium and I the small definitely works.

Oat & Fawn Animal Print Blouse – Pugs

It’s a little bizarre to have a pug print on the blouse since I don’t have a dog, but its cute nevertheless. I like the print from a distance and the fit is okay. It’s a little loose and large but I think a smaller size would have been tight across the shoulders.

Renee C Blouse with Chevron Print Sleeves and Back

The front fabric on this is a little scratchy but the back and sleeves are soft. I like the print and the shape, I’ll probably wear it to work this week.

Ellison Candy Print Button Down

While I don’t love the tunic length on this, the color and print and super cute. The fabric is also nice and soft. I’ll just have to wear a wide belt with it to give me some shape and definition. Maybe with white jeans?

Jella C Lace Flared Midi Skirt

Love the fabric and the fit, just not sure what to wear with this? I was thinking maybe a muted pink tee and an army jacket? Not sure what to pair this one with. Also it’s a bit see through…

Overall Impressions

Overall, I think this was a decent tote. I LOVE the blue sweatshirt and the black dress will be good now that I’ve done alterations. The pug blouse and white chevron print blouse will be good for work and the green blouse maybe for weekends. I am looking forward to the May Golden Tote which launches on May 11th, but I’ve only seen a few previews so far.

My Golden Tote has finally arrived for March. (It took 3 weeks to get here!) They really need to work on their customer service. It shouldn’t take 3 weeks to get an order and the sale launch was delayed because of problems with their new website.

Here’s what I got.

These are the two items I picked

Touch of Spring Top

I like this top, it’s a soft lightweight material and the mixed media looks great with these black pants from Athleta.

Striped Blazer

I wish I had ordered this in a small. When I pull the two sides together as if I was going to close it (it has no buttons) it fits nicely, but when it hangs open like you’d wear it it looks too loose and shapeless. It makes me look heavy and bulky which is not what I was going for.

Kerisma Ombre Sweater – Blue

This is one of my favorite surprise items. I love the color (it seems more purple to me) and it’s super soft. It is a high-lo sweater which I don’t always love, but the color and fabric make up for it.

Le Lis Leopard Print Blouse

Out of the box I thought I liked this the least, but when I put it on it is so silky and nice and I decided I could pair it with some cute jewelry and maybe a blazer to make it work.

Love Stitch 3/4 Sleeve Tassel Top – Blush

The hem on this is not very well made and it is just blousy. I’ll try to make it work with some lighter colored jeans and different sandals. I like the boho trend but these loose flowy tops don’t usually work for me.

Renee C Work Blouse – White

Another Hi-Lo top. These items really need ironing. I don’t care for the fit of this but maybe I can pair it with something to make it work.

Overall, this months Golden Tote was okay. I like one of the items I picked and a few of the surprises, but nothing really wow-ed me. I’m wondering what they will have for their April sale which starts April 13th.
