I decided to go for it and get a Golden Tote this month, mostly because they had a few really adorable dresses I wanted. Here’s what I got.

I really like this on. It’s flattering and soft and I can see myself wearing it a lot this summer.

This is shorter than I’d like, but I can get away with it on the weekends. Love the color and will pair it with lace up sandals.

I do like this dress, but it’s one of those things I feel like I’ll be fussing a lot with. Because of the elastic waist and gathering I had to keep pulling it down when I moved otherwise it gathered very unflatteringly at the top.

Overall

Overall, would I do it again soon? Probably not, but I did get a few dresses that I like. Unfortunately the two tops were awful and unflattering, and had this been stitch fix everything but the green maxi dress would have gone back.

Stitch Fix April – It all went back

I decided to give Stitch Fix another try since I had some credit and unfortunately I had the same experience I’ve been having with the last two fixes.

Here was my note this time:

And here’s what I got.

Collective Concepts – Kaira Split Neck Blouse $68

Too short in the front and too boxy of a fit, definitely not good for my shape.

Maggy London – Ema Crepe V-neck Dress $118

Okay print, horrible fabric (thick polyester) and HORRIBLE fit for a pear shape. I never wear short sheath dresses like this. I always go with fit and flare which is much better for my shape and what I have always requested. The fit was even worse in the back with bunching up and too tight some places too loose in others.

Kut From the Kloth – Gracelyn Pencil Skirt $58

This was an absolute miss. Again, I have a pear shape. Pencil skirts never work. It was about 8 inches too big in the waist and way too tight in the thighs. My husband saw me and commented, “how can that be too big and too small at the same time??” Because it was never meant for my body. (The next pic shows it on.)

Pixley – Tamarindo Blazer $68

The shape was okay and the pattern was cute, but it was a thick polyester un-breathable fabric and I couldn’t bend my arms comfortably because there was no stretch. For someone who is on a keyboard all day at work this was a no go.

41Hawthorn – Thompsen Striped Zipper-Back Pullover Sweater $64

This was the only maybe, but the fabric was incredibly thin, the zipper pulled away weird in the back where it ended and the neckline was too wide. For a sweater it wouldn’t actually keep me warm at all. Plus the length was a little longer than I’d like. For $64 I can do better.

So all of it is going back. They sent me an email the next day asking if I’d be willing to try again if they waive the styling fee. I honestly can’t decide if I should bother. Unless they do an amazing job and find 5 pieces I really like, the prices are too high without the discount and I have little faith they’ll find 5 things that fit well and are my style.

I wish I had bought this in more colors/patterns when it was available. The shoes are from Lands End.

Desert Star Maxi – Anthropologie

I love this Desert Start Maxi from Anthro, I paired it with some long gold neckaces from Charming Charlie.

Anthropologie Outfit

I love these shorts/skirt from Anthro and this top. I wore a jacket over it for work which helped balance the proportions, but it was 90 degrees outside so no jacket outside.

Golden Tote Maxi Dress

I got this maxi in a Golden Tote last summer and love the coral color.

I got this midi dress from Loft and love the way the flowy fabric moved when I walked.

I love this Boden dress, the color is nice and the length. The fabric is super soft too.

Stitch Fix September 2015

My September stitch fix arrived yesterday, and once again I’m disappointed. Here was the note to my stylist.

Annnnd here’s what I got:

I see some color, but mostly dull grey and drab olive. And what is that thing on the bottom, a blanket??

RD Style – lana Twisted Seam Sweater $68

Dull, boxy fit and just sort of sticks out at my mid-section.

Return.

41Hawthorn – Lisbon Stud Detail Blouse $58

Yes it’s an olive color, but the fabric feels itchy and artificial and I didn’t really ask for a blouse. I don’t see myself wearing this because of the itchy fabric.

Returned

Market and Spruce – Alexi Dress $74

The color and fabric are nice, and that’s all it has going for it. The waist was loose and big and the arm holes were uneven and way too big. My bra was completely showing on one side.

Returned.

Kut From the Kloth – Michael Faux Leather Jacket $78

The color is nice, but I already have a ton of faux leather jackets in a bunch of colors. Also the arms are really loose and long on this one and my husband said it looked to big on me. I’m undecided only because this is the ONLY item I’d even consider keeping and if I don’t keep anything I’m out $20 just for the privilege of trying on a bunch of stuff that doesn’t work for me.

Undecided.

RD Style – Laverne Poncho Cardigan $68

Stitch Fix September 2015 — Are you kidding me?

I don’t recall asking for a blanket, nor does this look like anything on my pinterest page. I posted a bunch of cute fitted fall outfits and she sends me a blanket with arm holes?? The fabric is scratchy and I look like I am a giant old lady. This would never in a million years work with my shape. Honestly, the worst thing they’ve ever sent me.

RETURNED.

Overall Impressions

Overall I think this was a bad fix. I didn’t get the skinny jeans I requested, there was only one dress, no skirts, and a serious lack of color aside from the wearable blanket. I think Lindsay did a pretty good job as my stylist, but I kept requesting her later and they kept telling me she was on vacation and this stylist definitely does not get me. I guess I’m done with Stitch Fix again.

My July 2015 Golden Tote arrived this weekend and there were some good surprises and some just “enh”.

Here are the boutique items I got this time.

All Tied Up Printed Sandals – $20

They recommended going up a half size so I went with 8.5 and they seem to fit well. I wore them this weekend with black shorts and a red top.

Mardi Gras Bracelet Set – $14

Haven’t worn these yet, but they are cute in person.

Silver Metal Layered Necklace – $15

And here are the tote items.

Chosen Item 1 – Embellished Eyelet Tank

I normally don’t wear racerback tops like this but with the heat I decided to give it a try. It’s a nice soft fabric and I can’t wait to wear it with shorts (the proportions don’t suit me with capris).

Chosen Item 2 – Draped Crossover Blouse

Surprise Item – Bo Bel Pocket Tee with Crochet Trim (Green)

I wore this to work paired with white jeans and a blazer from an older Golden Tote.

Surprise Item – Skies are Blue Floral Lace Detail Kimono

Not thrilled with another kimono but it’s a nice color.

Surprise Item – Le Lis Side Bow Dress

Surprise Item – Miss Love Black Tank with Sheer Panel at Hem

Very basic piece but rather boring.

Overall Impressions

The July Golden Tote came with some pretty dark and boring surprise items, especially since I had seen a spoiler email with some of the cute patterned tops they were giving away. I had hoped to see the polka dot top or the ikat print tee but only got dark boring stuff. Maybe next month will be better.

My Golden Tote for April arrived on May 1st. (They keep slipping dates with the launches which is starting to put them into the next month.) This month I was extremely excited for the black spring chic maxi dress but when I tried to get a tote on the launch day, the site (as usual) had tons of problems and kept timing out and leaving things out of the cart and several hours later when I was finally able to get it working they had sold out of all sizes of the black maxi. They restocked a week later but they only had small left by the time I got to the site so I decided I’d try to make it work.

What I ordered clearly stated on my receipt:

What I got:

I was not very happy that they sent me the wrong item, but when I went to the site they were all sold out of the white one in my size.

The Tote

Spring Chic Maxi Dress – size small

Because I ended up ordering the small, the gathered elastic waist was a bit tight and uncomfortable. I have since made a few alterations on the dress and let out the elastic at the front sides so it’s much more comfortable now. After I put this dress on I feel like it makes me look like I have man arms so I’m not as happy with it as I expected.

Bring on Spring Sweatshirt – Blue NOT white as ordered

I have to say, this is the softest thing I’ve ever worn. I immediately wore it the day I tried it on and am wearing it this morning as I type up my review. SO soft and cozy. I wish it was the white color, but I’m happy nevertheless. I ended up ordering this in a small since on the larger model it looked really over-sized in a medium and I the small definitely works.

Oat & Fawn Animal Print Blouse – Pugs

It’s a little bizarre to have a pug print on the blouse since I don’t have a dog, but its cute nevertheless. I like the print from a distance and the fit is okay. It’s a little loose and large but I think a smaller size would have been tight across the shoulders.

Renee C Blouse with Chevron Print Sleeves and Back

The front fabric on this is a little scratchy but the back and sleeves are soft. I like the print and the shape, I’ll probably wear it to work this week.

Ellison Candy Print Button Down

While I don’t love the tunic length on this, the color and print and super cute. The fabric is also nice and soft. I’ll just have to wear a wide belt with it to give me some shape and definition. Maybe with white jeans?

Jella C Lace Flared Midi Skirt

Love the fabric and the fit, just not sure what to wear with this? I was thinking maybe a muted pink tee and an army jacket? Not sure what to pair this one with. Also it’s a bit see through…

Overall Impressions

Overall, I think this was a decent tote. I LOVE the blue sweatshirt and the black dress will be good now that I’ve done alterations. The pug blouse and white chevron print blouse will be good for work and the green blouse maybe for weekends. I am looking forward to the May Golden Tote which launches on May 11th, but I’ve only seen a few previews so far.
