When they released the previews for the July Golden Tote, I knew that I had to have the polka dot top. I was undecided between the green and blue version because they were both so cute. When the tote was released, I didn’t really care for any of the other items (far too skimpy or revealing for me) so I just got the $49 tote and chose the blue polka dot top.

I really love the polka dot top and the stripe pattern on the back. I’ll definitely be wearing this next week with cropped jeans and sandals.

My surprise item was this adorable coral maxi dress. I absolutely LOVE it!

Overall, it was definitely worth the $49. I love both items and will definitely be wearing them soon. This month’s tote was a great value and I love both items.
June’s Golden Tote arrived yesterday and here’s what I got.
I got the $149 tote and the two items I picked this time were the striped dress and the blue palazzo pants.
Comme Toi Striped Dress
I had been really excited about this dress because it is knit, the pattern is cute, and it seemed long enough for work. Unfortunately, the gathering at the waist hits just below my bust (not at all where my waist is) and it looks frumpy and weird. I was sadly disappointed until my husband came upstairs and said it was cute. I guess I’ll wear it on the weekend at some point, but I don’t think it really did anything for my figure. (The belt is mine from Ann Taylor Loft.)
Renee C Palazzo Pants
I had been wanting a pair of pants in this style for a while now, and when I saw them as an option for the June Golden Tote I had to have them. I ordered the blue color. Unfortunately I had forgotten that I probably wanted a size Large in these in order to be roomy enough in the thighs/bum and the Medium is a bit on the snug side clinging just a bit too much. I think I can still pull them off but wish I had done a size bigger.
Here I paired them with a chambray shirt, but I think they’d look cute with a black tee and a long necklace. I’ll probably need platform sandals since they are a bit long.

Fantastic Fawn Blue Dress
I really liked this dress on, maybe even better than the striped one I had picked out, but unfortunately the picture turned out super blurry.
Miss Love Lace Top
This picture doesn’t do the top justice, it’s actually really cute on. I paired it with the next surprise item:
Priddy Black Pants
These are stretchy knit pants and are SOOO comfortable. They might not be super flattering, but I don’t care because I want to live in them now.

And this is the item I won’t bee keeping. On me this was way to open at the top and it bloused out and was not flattering.

For those of you unfamiliar with Golden Tote, it is a subscription clothing service where you can opt in each month by picking either one item for $49 or two items for $149. If you pick the $49 tote, they will send you an additional 1-2 surprise items, and if you pick the $149 tote you will get an additional 3-5 surprise items. Unlike Stitch Fix you don’t get to pick and choose what you keep, with Golden Tote it is an all or nothing deal, but it is usually worth the price even if you don’t like all of the items. The items are very similar to what you would find at Anthropologie.
Here’s what I picked for the May Tote:
Floral blouse
I really love this first pick. The colors on the blouse are beautiful and the fabric is so soft and comfortable. Great first pick!
My second pick was the off white kimono:
I love the embroidered design on the back and it has a nice fit where it is longer in back. Very different piece from what I would normally pick, but I like it.

Of the four surprise items, I liked two of them pretty well.
(Sorry for the horribly blurry picture), this dress was a surprise to me. At first I thought I could never pull it off because it’s quite short and thin, but when I added leggings, short black booties and a long necklace, I ended up really liking it. This is a great find for me.
I also liked this dolman top. The fabric is super soft and it drapes nicely. I just wasn’t sure how far to pull the band down at the bottom because it’s fitted and long. This length seemed to work okay.
And finally for the two items I didn’t care for.
I don’t really ever wear tops that show my arms so you’d never even see that this was a halter tank. Also it’s see through so you need to wear something underneath and a tank with straps would always show through. Just not my style.
The other thing that didn’t work was the Priddy dress. I don’t even have a picture of me wearing it because it was that bad on me. It was super short and did nothing for my figure. (I’ve already been feeling somewhat bad about my body lately so I wasn’t going to create photographic evidence for what I’ve been thinking.)

Overall Impressions
Overall, I think this month’s Golden Tote was worthwhile and fun. I love seeing what the surprise items are and the two I picked worked out well for me. Due to my recent dissatisfaction with Stitch Fix, I decided to try a new subscription service I had heard about called Golden Tote. With Golden Tote, you have two options. You can pay $49 to select one item from several options, and they will send you an additional 1-2 items as a surprise, or you can pay $149 to pick 2 items and they will send you an additional 3-5 items. You don’t get to select which ones you keep or send back, so it’s more of an all or nothing service. I decided to go with the $149 option since I felt I’d have a better chance of getting more items I wanted to keep.

They even sent a little bracelet as a bonus. Overall, I was really pleased with the selections. The fabrics were nice and soft, and the fit was perfect on all of the items. I found that even though I didn’t fill out a profile for this one, they seemed to be right on with my style and preferences. I’m sure it was just pure coincidence, but if this is any indication of the quality of items they send, I’ll be doing this again.
I’m considering cancelling my January Stitch Fix and just doing another Golden Tote since I’m much happier with the items here.
