My missing Stitch Fix has appeared!

This afternoon we were pulling away from the house to go grab some lunch, and what did I see on my porch?  A stitch fix box!!  Apparently the one that was packed on 2/5 somehow magically made it’s way to my house.  I eagerly opened it up to see what was inside, and while I wasn’t thrilled with what I saw, I ended up liking most of it.  Here’s my February Fix.

Stitch Fix #9I had asked for more patterned pieces this time, and apparently that amounted to stripes.  At least there was only one solid colored piece.

Ezra Haines Striped Dolman Sleeve Top $48

Stitch Fix #9 Stitch Fix #9

Stitch Fix #9By itself I don’t love this top.  The scoop goes pretty low in the front and the back has a really open neck too which makes me feel cold.  Since it is a nice light layer though with soft fabric I paired it with a military style jacket like the card suggested and it makes a great layering piece.  Also looks cute with the necklace.

41Hawthorn Wrenn V-Neck Cap Sleeve Jersey Top $48

Stitch Fix #9 Stitch Fix #9Stitch Fix #9Again, by itself I don’t really care for this top.  The color is nice and I like the neckline, but it needs to have a top layer.  It also looked really cute with the necklace from this fix.  Overall I’d say it’s a decent layering piece but definitely needs a good ironing first!

Under Skies Travers Short Sleeve Striped Knit Shirt $38

Stitch Fix #9 Stitch Fix #9Stitch Fix #9The fabric on this top is soft, but I’m not loving the navy and the sleeves were tight on my arms.  (I seem to have abnormally large upper arms, despite almost never working out.)  Again it would be cute under other items I own.  I think it would look cute under a white jean jacket which I’ve been eying on the Old Navy site.  I guess now I’ll have an excuse to buy it.

TCEC Roxanna Chevron Open Knit Cardigan $58

Stitch Fix #9 Stitch Fix #9Stitch Fix #9This was my least favorite piece.  I’m not a fan of drapey cardigans (which I’ve stated in my profile before) and I don’t think this works for my body type.  Since I was considering keeping the other 4 pieces I decided to go ahead and keep this in order to get the 25% discount.  Otherwise this would have been going back.

Bay to Baubles Tatiana Delicate Rhinestone Pave Necklace

Stitch Fix #9

Love the necklace.  It’s delicate but also unique.  I’ll definitely be wearing this one a lot.

Overall Impressions

Nothing really thrilled me with this fix, but for the total price of $153 I decided to keep everything.  I think some of the tops will make good layering pieces an I can definitely wear them under some of my favorite jackets.  I had really been hoping for some patterned blouses, but maybe that’s just not something they are carrying right now.

Where is my Stitch Fix?

I am so disappointed by my Stitch Fix experience this month.  I was originally scheduled for a fix on Wednesday February 5th while I was finishing presenting at a conference I had been dreading.  I thought coming home to a stitch fix would have been the perfect “pick me up”.  Instead, I went to check the tracking information and the label had been created and I could see what items were in the box, but by Wednesday it had never left the warehouse.  I contacted stitch fix customer service, and 2 full days later, I finally got a reply that they had lost my fix and promised to send me a new one the following week on 2/14 a week and a half later than the original one.  I figured that a Valentines Day Stitch fix would be pretty cool and anxiously awaited the new one.

Fast forward to 2/12, and once again I noticed that no label had been created and nothing had been sent.  I knew it took a minimum of 2 days to ship so if it hadn’t shipped by Wed I wasn’t getting a fix for Valentines Day.  I once again contacted customer service by replying to the original thread and asked what was going on.

Two days later (Valentines Day when my fix was supposed to be arriving) I finally get a response from them saying they are sorry but it happened again.  Wait, seriously???  They lost my fix twice in one month?  Supposedly the glitch in my account has been fixed and now they are saying I’ll get a fix on 2/21, a week from today.  I checked my credit card and I had been charged the $20 styling fee for the 2/5 box that never shipped, so I hope they don’t charge me a second time.  I’m feeling much less confident about the service overall, and highly dissatisfied with the amount of time it takes customer service to respond to issues.  A two day delay per inquiry is not very good, and so far they haven’t offered me a credit or anything for the so called “glitch”.

I’m really hoping that my February box (If I ever receive it) is awesome and worth the wait.  I’ll update this post when I have more information.

Update:

The 2/5 stitch fix showed up on my porch out of the blue ten days late.  After trying everything on and deciding I’d keep it, I contacted customer service since there was no way for me to check out online and let them know that I got it.  Within minutes, they had fixed my account and I could check out online.  I’m still getting another box this month which is fine, but I was a bit surprised that when I had a problem it took 48 hrs to hear back, when I magically get a box and need to pay them money I get a response within minutes on a weekend no less.  I’m grateful to have the whole thing sort of taken care of (there is still the extra box coming this month) but at least things sort of worked out and I got a box with some okay pieces for a decent price.

Stitch Fix Review #8

After battling some flu like symptoms and getting back to work this week, my January Stitch Fix has arrived.  I approached the box with a bit of trepidation since the last few were not all that satisfying.  I just hoped that I’d be keeping at least one item in order not to have wasted the $20 styling fee.  My only request this time had been “more colors and patterns please”.  I hesitantly opened up the box to see…

Stitch Fix 8a sea of black and white.

This was not at all what I asked for, so I’m wondering why they completely ignored my request.  Then I unfold the note that comes with the fix and see this:

Stitch Fix 8Wait, What?????  Congrats on your first fix?  We’re excited to have you join?  The receipt clearly states that this is my 8th fix!!  So this stylist somehow thought I was a new customer and apparently did not look at a single note from my past history, or my last request for color and patterns.  Wow.

Splendid Ruben Tab-Sleeve Open Cardigan $78 and Rikka Amanda Enamel Bib Necklace $38

Stitch Fix 8

Not really loving this cardigan.  The fabric is thin and not at all good for winter, and the cut is not flattering.  It just sort of cuts me off and makes my upper body looks stumpy.

41Hawthorn Amani Cowl Neck Sleeveless Blouse $48

Stitch Fix 8This top by itself looks terrible on me.  I look like an exaggerated purple pear.  Thumbs down on this one.

But then, when I put the two items together…

Stitch Fix 8Suddenly this outfit looks professional and I could see myself wearing it for an upcoming conference I have to attend for the night events.  Despite the items being awful on their own, I decide I’ll keep them because paired together they work.

Renee C Rosenberg Dip-Dye Cross-Front Knit Shirt $58

Stitch Fix 8This one is a bit quirky and strange, but overall I liked the faux leather panel at the top and the fabric was soft.  I’m not sure what to wear under it though.  A white tee looked bad and the sleeves were too tight, but I don’t like the triangular peak of my fly of my jeans so I might try to find a longer tank I could wear underneath.  Decided to keep it because it’s unique.

41Hawthorn Dominic Brick Print Belted Shirtdress $78

Stitch Fix 8On the hanger this one reminded me of a dress I had gotten in a previous fix that I really didn’t end up liking after I wore it, but once I put it on, I saw that the fit was much nicer and flattering.  I will wear it with a black half slip underneath because the buttons don’t go low enough at the bottom and the flap kept opening up, but overall it was a surprisingly good dress for work.  Decided to keep it.

Overall Impressions

Despite the fact that everything they sent was black and white with one exception of the purple blouse, and despite the stylist thinking it was my first fix, I ended up keeping all of the items from this fix for a total of $210.  I actually requested this stylist for my next fix, because even though the colors were off, these pieces generally were a better fit for me than some of the odd stuff previous stylists had picked out.  We’ll see what the February box reveals, but I really hope it’s color.  My request this time was no more black/white, or solid burgundy or navy.  Here’s hoping.

December Stitch Fix Review

After last months total disappointment, December was a bit better.  The card acknowledged that they missed my correction comment about not wanting tops that hit mid-thigh but rather mid-hip.  I have been insanely busy with work and trying to get ready for the holidays so didn’t have time to take pictures of me trying everything on, but here is what they sent.

Stitch Fix December

Item #1 – Sweet Rain: Roger Asymetrical Zipper Jacket $78

Stitch Fix DecemberThis looked pretty cute on.  The fabric was a stretchy ponte knit, and I liked the color.  It fit like an athletic jacket with the hemline dipping a bit lower in the back which works well with my figure.  I felt it was a bit pricey for a moto style athletic jacket, but since it was flattering and I could see myself wearing it the very next day I decided to keep this.

Item #2 – Mystree: Nadira Sequin Striped Long Sleeve Shirt $48

Stitch Fix DecemberThis was a stretchy cotton top that fit nicely and had just a touch of sparkle.  No objections.  The card that came with it suggested pairing it with an olive military style jacket which I think I will do next week.  I kept this too.

Item #3 – Under Skies: Lawton Abstract Print Split Neck Blouse $58

Stitch Fix DecemberThe print on this was nice, but I’ve already gotten several navy print blouses from Stitch Fix.  When I tried it on, the fit was all wrong.  It stuck out oddly in the front and back making me look like a weird tent.  Because the hemline curved up at the hips, it accentuated my hips again and was not at all flattering.  This one went back.

Item #4 – Oxmo: Clora Dot & Colorblocked Cotton Sweater $78

Stitch Fix DecemberLoved the pattern and weight of this sweater, but why did they make it with such a low scoop neck?  When I tried it on, it was practically showing clevage and I don’t understand why you’d make a sweater which is meant to be worn in cold weather with such a low neckline that is just drafty and cold.  It was unflattering and way too cold.  This one went back as well.

Item #5 – Rikka: Danielle Long Knot Necklace $32

Stitch Fix DecemberThe necklace was simple and since it was plain gold, will go with anything.  It’s super long so you loop it for a double layer effect.  I had no objections to the necklace and decided to keep it, but the price was a bit high for the quality of the necklace.  Had I been keeping all 5 items and gotten the 25% discount I think I would have been okay with the price of the items, but without the discount they just seem like a bad deal.

Overall Impressions

Overall, I was glad that a few of the pieces worked out, but am confused as to why they are only sending me navy and burgundy clothes.  I have repeatedly asked for more colors and patterns and stated that my favorite color was mustard but haven’t gotten a single item in that color.  I have to wonder what in my profile or comments has screamed “Only send burgundy and navy!”  Since I’m keeping 3 items this time I decided to sign up for the January box.  I’m still not sure if I want to continue doing stitch fix since it doesn’t feel like a good deal for what I’m getting if I don’t keep all 5 items.  Maybe January will surprise me.

November Stitch Fix – Major Fail :(

Well, just when I didn’t think my fixes could get worse, they proved me wrong.  I believe part of the issue with this one was a miscommunication and I am partially to blame.  At one point in my comments after a fix I accidentally said I wanted tops that hit “mid-thigh” because they kept sending me tops that were too short.  What I meant to say was “mid-hip” or “mid-back pocket” which is what works best for a pear shaped lady, and I immediately realized my blunder and added a note to the next fix request and updated my profile with another note to say that’s not what I meant.

Apparently the new stylist only saw the mistake comment because this fix was all super long tops in boring colors and a dress that was too short.  I think some of the tops might have actually been longer than the dress.  For this particular fix I had asked for a “fall floral patterned dress in a chiffon or similar pattern, to wear with boots and a oatmeal cardigan  I have, hopefully about 40″ long, and a piece of jewelry.”  Here’s what I got:

Stitch Fix #6
A holiday surprise!

First off, the site had made a big deal telling customers to make sure to order their November boxes because there would be a special surprise.  I saw the little packet and got excited thinking maybe it was a coupon of some sort?  No, it was simply a coupon code for a discount on some wine, a few recipes, and advertisements trying to get you to give Stitch Fix gift cards for holiday gifts.  That turned out to be a dud.

The outfit ideas all came on one card this time.  Here were the suggestions:

Stitch Fix #6

41Hawthorn Colibri Colorblocked Henley Blouse $48

41Hawthorn

Boring color, completely unflattering cut.

Ezra Agnes Belted Floral Print Dress $58

Stitch Fix #6

Paired with my own cardigan and belt, it was okay, but way too short.  If I shrugged my shoulders the whole dress lifted up another 6 inches or so.  Not appropriate for work at all and it felt too young for me, probably because of the length.

Ravel Marleena Front Pleat Button-Up Shirt $68

Stitch Fix #6

I don’t think this could be any more unflattering.  Also I don’t need boring white blouses.  This one looks sort of like a lab coat.

41Hawthron Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan  $48

Stitch Fix #6

I’m wearing my slippers in this pic, but the cardigan was just sort of shapeless and didn’t do anything for me.  I toyed with the idea of keeping this one since I liked the color and the fabric was nice, but in the end it just wasn’t worth the extra $28 it would have taken to keep it.  I realize I am losing out on the $20 styling fee, but there was nothing in that box that felt worth investing any money into.  Even the scarf was just okay, and at $48, I felt like I could have gotten the same thing at Target for a fraction of the price.

So overall this was a very disappointing and sad fix.  I returned every last item and was out $20.  I don’t know why they started sending me the most boring blah colored items with no patterns and the length of these was just awful.  I know I am partially to blame for that, but I really wish they would read ALL of the notes.  Also there was no jewelry and I specifically asked for jewelry.

I’m giving December one last go, and this time I just asked for tops with colorful patterns and textures that hit mid-hip or mid-back pocket and maybe a soft chunky sweater.  It would be nice to get a December surprise that I didn’t want to rush back to the post office.

Stitch Fix #5

I’m just getting over the flu after my travels and Stitch Fix #5 arrived today to cheer me up.  Unfortunately, once again I’m a bit dissapointed.  The colors were drab and I didn’t get an “cozy knits” like I had asked for.  Also in my profile I had specifically called out no wool since I have an allergy, and the navy cardigan they sent has wool in it that caused my skin to start turning red and itching.  Not thrilled with the choices.  I don’t understand because I see other peoples reviews and will see tons of cute stuff and get excited about my next fix, only to find drab items that don’t excite me.

I like the fit of this blouse, and the colors were nice.  It just didn’t thrill me because it’s very similar to many items I already have.  I decide to keep it since the fit was nice, but it’s quite pricey for such a thin blouse.

41Hawthorn – Elora Silk Button Down Collared Blouse – $98

Burgundy Blouse

burgundy blouse

I had actually been wanting some tops in burgundy to compliment my fall wardrobe, but this one is on the expensive side and was super long with really long arms.  I’m not sure if it was supposed to fit that way or if it was too big, but I liked the softness of the silk and the color was nice so I’ll be keeping it.

TCEC – Donelle V-Neck Button-Up Cardigan – $58

Navy Cardigan

Navy Cardigan

The card for this sweater suggested buttoning it up, but there was no way that could happen.  It was super fitted throughout the body and arms, and when I discovered my skin was itching and red I checked the label and sure enough it was 35% wool.  I specifically called out no wool in my profile so I’m pretty unhappy about this item.

41Hawthron – Jacy Hooded Knit Jacket – $68

hooded cardigan

Jedi“May the Force Be With You”, in this lovely number.

Hooded CardiganOkay, all joking aside, I did feel a bit costumey in this and it just didn’t really fit into the rest of my wardrobe.  The inner unfinished terry fabric is exposed at the neckline and it looks unpolished.  Not to mention I feel like I’m wearing a robe.  It’s long and bulky and I just can’t see myself wearing this.

Overall Impression

Overall, I wasn’t super happy with this fix.  I don’t know why the first few fixes started out strong, then I started getting more and more drab items.  It seems like almost everything they send has navy and black.  Those are great neutrals, but I already have a closet full of that.  I was looking for something a little different and unexpected I could add to my wardrobe, but not so different that I feel like a young Jedi in training or Miss America reject.  (See last fix for that lovely item.)  I am keeping the burgundy blouse, the necklace, and the striped top, but nothing is making me super excited.  I decided to try to vocalize what I wanted and give it one more try in November.  This time I am asking for a knee length fall floral dress to wear with a long cardigan and boots.  It’s something I’ve been looking for and haven’t found yet.  Fingers crossed!
