Stitch Fix May Review

My May Stitch Fix arrived last weekend, and here’s what it consisted of.

Stitch Fix May
The goods

At first glance, I like the necklace, but am dissapointed by the range of colors once again.  Its back to blue and black.  I’ve had so many fixes that were just dull blue and black and this one is right there again.  Plus the only thing I asked for this time was a teal and white chevron skirt I saw in other peoples fixes, and I can see that it is not here.  Once again I don’t think they read the comments, because her note said “I see that you’ve asked for mostly tops and dresses this time…” which was not true.  I only asked for a skirt.

41 Hawthorn – Mandi Colorblock Shift Dress  $74

Stitch Fix MayStitch Fix May

Before even trying this on I knew it wouldn’t work.  Shift dresses + pear shapes do not equal flattering.

Thumbs down

This went back.

Tart – Caldwell Pocket Front V-Neck Tee Shirt  $54

Stitch Fix MayStitch Fix May

$54 seems steep for a plain T-shirt that I could easily find elsewhere.

Stitch Fix May
Pricey Tee

I did like the color and fit, plus it looked nice with the necklace, so I decided to keep this very expensive Tee shirt.

Lily – Jonie Abstract Chevron Cowl Neck Top  $48

Awful fabric

I didn’t care for the dark colors of this top, and the fabric was really awful.  It was that cheap polyester blend that has no breath-ability and the fit was off too.  One shoulder stuck up oddly.  For sure going back, two thumbs down on this one.

Loveappella – Karissa Chevron Print Henley Tank  $48

Stitch Fix May
Just okay

This top had a soft fabric and a neutral print, but I wasn’t wowed by it either.  It was just very basic.  I decide to keep it because I could throw any color cardigan over the top to add a pop of color.

Pixley – Rita Teardrop Bib Necklace  $42

Stitch Fix May
Spoon necklace

To me, this necklace looks like a bunch of spoons.  It’s a bit heavy and I felt that $42 was rather high for this type of statement necklace you can find at cheaper box stores now, but I did like the silver accents so I kept this.

Overall Impressions

This was not my favorite stitch fix and two items went back.  I think I could have returned all of it and not felt like I was missing anything.  The colors were blah and dark, and I didn’t get the skirt I had asked for.  I really hope next time I get to see some colors.  I’ve seen bright yellow blouses in other peoples fixes and was hoping for something more like that.

April Outfits

I haven’t been good about posting outfits lately, so here is a short recap of some of my favorite things I got to wear in April.

Outfit Pear Shape
Mustard Cardigan and Skirt

I absolutely love anything mustard colored and this cardigan is one of my favorites.  The cardigan, tee, and skirt are from Ann Taylor Loft last year.

Outfit Pear Shape
Striped Stitch Fix Top

I had a chance to wear my green/gray striped stitch fix top.

Outfit Pear Shape
Easter Brunch

We went out for Easter Brunch and I wore this old dress from GAP paired with some shoes from ModCloth.

Outfit Pear Shape
Military Style Jacket

I got a new linen tee from Ann Taylor Loft and paired it with my military style jacket.  This is one of my favorite laid back go-to looks.

Outfit Pear Shape
Wrap Top – Old Navy
Outfit Pear Shape
Breezy Loft top

I got this flowy top from LOFT and paired it with a pale pink cardigan from Old Navy.

Outfit Pear Shape
Faux Suede and Leopard Pumps

This was one of my favorite looks.  The faux suede jacket is from Piperlime and the pumps are Nine West.  I felt so chic!

Outfit Pear Shape
Green Dress – New York and Company

New York and Company had some really great spring dresses this year.  I got this one along with a pink floral one I haven’t worn yet.  Both are really flattering for my shape and a nice length for work.

Love this dress.  The length, the flow of the fabric and the cut and color.  Great Stitch Fix find.

Stitch Fix April Review

My April stitch fix arrived yesterday, and while I loved the concepts of the items I only ended up keeping two things this month.  I had decided ahead of time that I was only keeping an item if I loved it since my closet is getting a bit crowded, so a few of the items went back this time because they really didn’t work.

Here’s what I got.

Stitch Fix April

Stitch Fix April

Fate – Elyse Striped Sheer Sleeveless Top $58

Stitch Fix April Stitch Fix April Stitch Fix AprilI really like the colors of this blouse, and it matches well with this lightweight cardigan I already had from Piperlime.  It has a cute zipper in the back but you’ll probably never see it because it didn’t look good on its own.  I decided to keep this piece because I love stripes and the color and think it will look good with jean jackets and cardigans.

Gilli – Nikky Striped Faux Wrap Jersey Dress $58

Stitch Fix April Stitch Fix April Stitch Fix AprilI love the color and pattern of this dress, and even the length was great.  Unfortunately, the fabric was very sheer and you could see my underwear through it.  For a $58 dress I’d like the material to be a little more substantial so this went back.  I loved the colors though and hated to see it go.

Sweet Rain – Dennison Printed Short Sleeve Top $48

Stitch Fix April Stitch Fix April Stitch Fix AprilLoved the pattern and fabrics of this top, but the fit is very unflattering on me.  The way it has the vents near the hips emphasizes my pear shape and I really didn’t like the effect.  This one went back.

Daniel Rainn – Lander Watercolor Floral Print Blouse $68

Stitch Fix April Stitch Fix April Stitch Fix AprilThe print on this blouse is beautiful and I really liked the drape.  It had a vent in the back that looked really cute too.  I had seen this blouse paired with mint jeans on the blog (which I actually happen to own) and was really excited to see it in my fix.  Definite keeper although a bit pricey for a see through blouse.

Fate – Damsel Crochet Knit Open Cardigan $58

Stitch Fix April Stitch Fix AprilStitch Fix AprilBig fat no on this one.  It was long enough to be a lab coat, and I specifically said “no more open cardigans please!” several times.  I don’t know why I just keep getting more cardigans.  I already have more than enough and don’t particularly like the style.  I really hope my next box does not have yet another cardigan.

Overall Impressions

I ended up keeping the blue floral pattern blouse and the orange stripe blouse and sent everything else back.  I lost the discount since I didn’t keep all 5 items, but it wasn’t worth it to keep 3 items that weren’t flattering and I didn’t love.  Even though I only kept 2 items I still really liked this fix and trying it all on was fun.  If you’d like to learn more about Stitch Fix here is my referral link.

March Stitch Fix Review

My March Stitch Fix has arrived a few days early and I am quite pleased.  It seems they have switched to USPS for shipping instead of FedEx so I was able to get my fix on a Saturday.  I eagerly opened the box hoping for color, and sure enough, there is color!

Stitch Fix March

C.Luce – Carmela Multi Stripe Sleeveless Blouse $58

Stitch Fix MarchStitch Fix MarchI love the idea of pairing it with a jean jacket and mint skinny jeans, because I actually have those two items and I think it will look very retro!  What an 80’s throwback.  Verdict: Keep.

Stitch Fix March

Renee C – Ashford Striped Cross-Front Knit Shirt $48

Stitch Fix MarchStitch Fix MarchStitch Fix MarchI recently bought a few tanks in a nice nude color and I think those would go better underneath this, but overall I like it.  It’s very similar to a different top I got that had faux leather patches in the shoulders and had the wrap drape like this, but it’s enough different that I’m willing to keep it.  Plus the price is pretty good.  Verdict: Keep.

RD Style – Galvin Airy Knit Heathered Sweater $58

Stitch Fix MarchStitch Fix MarchThis one by itself is a little too bare up top with it’s super wide neck, but I love the chunky soft knit and thought it might look cute with a maxi skirt.  How’s this?Stitch Fix MarchI’m not sure about this look, but it was also cute with a chambray shirt underneath so I think there will be multiple ways to wear this.  Verdict: Keep.

Loveappella – Baltimore Chevron Striped Knit Shirt $48

Stitch Fix MarchStitch Fix MarchI love the colors of this shirt and it is a nice soft drapey knit.  I think it would look cute with a bright colored skirt too, I’ll have to see what I can dig up.  Verdict: Keep.

Stitch Fix March

41Hawthorn – Renesme Graphic Print Faux Wrap Dress $78

Stitch Fix MarchStitch Fix MarchI think this was  my favorite piece in this fix, and I absolutely love this dress!  I love the pattern, the colors, the fit, and the length.  Perfect!!

Stitch Fix MarchVerdict:  Keep for sure.  The only thing I didn’t care for was the name.  Now I keep picturing this when I see the dress.  (shudder)renesme

Overall Impressions

This was a really good fix.  I loved the patterns, colors, and fabrics so I kept the whole thing at a cost of $202.50 after the discount.  Cody has been my stylist for the past few fixes and I think she does an awesome job.  I’m glad I found a stylist who seems to get my style and finds interesting pieces that I wouldn’t have otherwise tried.  If you enjoy reading my stitch fix reviews and want to sign up, I’d be thrilled if you used my referral code.  🙂  Thanks!

Bonus February Stitch Fix

Because of the mix up with Stitch Fix losing my first fix this month, then it miraculously showing up, I ended up with an extra bonus fix this month.  Here’s what I got.

Stitch Fix February

Pomelo – Salvatore crochet detailed V-neck shirt $58

Stitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix February

This is a cute casual top, but I don’t see it being good for layering since there is a ton of crochet detail on the upper arm which looked weird under a cardigan.  (It bunched up horribly.)  By itself it is nice for warmer weather, and I can see myself wearing this with jeans and tennis shoes on a weekend.  I felt it was a bit pricey for just a casual tee, but I liked the color and with the discount decided to keep it in the end.

41 Hawthorn – Milano twist front crew neck knit top $68

Stitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix FebruaryBy itself I didn’t really care for this top because it showed every lump and bump of my jeans (and the fitbit I am wearing), but when I added a layer on top it was better.  The fabric is incredibly soft and stretchy and I liked the color.  This was one item I was hesitating about but ultimately decided to keep.

Tart – Corwin stripe cowlneck $68

Stitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix February

I really liked this top.  The colors were nice, the fabric was soft, and I liked the cowlneck with a short necklace.  Definitely keeping this.

41 Hawthorn – Callafia short sleeve wrap dress $68

Stitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix FebruaryThis was by far my favorite item in this fix.  I love the color of the dress and the cut is perfect for work.  I love the full skirt and how feminine I feel wearing this.  These are probably not the shoes I’d end up wearing with it, but these happened to be close at hand so I threw them on.

Kensie – Kormann drape front open cardigan $78

Stitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix FebruaryStitch Fix FebruaryAs I’ve stated before, I really don’t love drapey cardigans and just don’t feel that they work well with my figure.  They do nothing to define my waist, and end up emphasizing my widest area.  Despite that, this cardigan was made of a super soft material, and a nice neutral grey tone.  It felt so cozy on that I figured I might wear it on a weekend or maybe to work over a more fitted top.  I did request that she send no more drapey cardigans since I have more than enough now, and I don’t particularly like the way they look, but for now I’m keeping this one since sending it back would have cost me the 25% discount.

Overall Impressions

Overall, I decided to keep everything in this fix in order to get the 25% discount.  Without the discount, the individual pieces were way too expensive for what they were.  The fabrics were ultra soft and comfortable, and the colors were soft and muted which I really liked.  I hope to see more color in my March fix now that spring clothes are starting to come out in stores, but for now I’m happy to wear the muted winter colors.

My missing Stitch Fix has appeared!

This afternoon we were pulling away from the house to go grab some lunch, and what did I see on my porch?  A stitch fix box!!  Apparently the one that was packed on 2/5 somehow magically made it’s way to my house.  I eagerly opened it up to see what was inside, and while I wasn’t thrilled with what I saw, I ended up liking most of it.  Here’s my February Fix.

Stitch Fix #9I had asked for more patterned pieces this time, and apparently that amounted to stripes.  At least there was only one solid colored piece.

Ezra Haines Striped Dolman Sleeve Top $48

Stitch Fix #9 Stitch Fix #9

Stitch Fix #9By itself I don’t love this top.  The scoop goes pretty low in the front and the back has a really open neck too which makes me feel cold.  Since it is a nice light layer though with soft fabric I paired it with a military style jacket like the card suggested and it makes a great layering piece.  Also looks cute with the necklace.

41Hawthorn Wrenn V-Neck Cap Sleeve Jersey Top $48

Stitch Fix #9 Stitch Fix #9Stitch Fix #9Again, by itself I don’t really care for this top.  The color is nice and I like the neckline, but it needs to have a top layer.  It also looked really cute with the necklace from this fix.  Overall I’d say it’s a decent layering piece but definitely needs a good ironing first!

Under Skies Travers Short Sleeve Striped Knit Shirt $38

Stitch Fix #9 Stitch Fix #9Stitch Fix #9The fabric on this top is soft, but I’m not loving the navy and the sleeves were tight on my arms.  (I seem to have abnormally large upper arms, despite almost never working out.)  Again it would be cute under other items I own.  I think it would look cute under a white jean jacket which I’ve been eying on the Old Navy site.  I guess now I’ll have an excuse to buy it.

TCEC Roxanna Chevron Open Knit Cardigan $58

Stitch Fix #9 Stitch Fix #9Stitch Fix #9This was my least favorite piece.  I’m not a fan of drapey cardigans (which I’ve stated in my profile before) and I don’t think this works for my body type.  Since I was considering keeping the other 4 pieces I decided to go ahead and keep this in order to get the 25% discount.  Otherwise this would have been going back.

Bay to Baubles Tatiana Delicate Rhinestone Pave Necklace

Stitch Fix #9

Love the necklace.  It’s delicate but also unique.  I’ll definitely be wearing this one a lot.

Overall Impressions

Nothing really thrilled me with this fix, but for the total price of $153 I decided to keep everything.  I think some of the tops will make good layering pieces an I can definitely wear them under some of my favorite jackets.  I had really been hoping for some patterned blouses, but maybe that’s just not something they are carrying right now.
